NHS
1990 Directory ~ Heather Cox Adicks, D.V.M.
My most vivid high school memory:
Not available.
My Favorite Teacher:
Not available.
Marital Status / My Spouse:
Married, Kyle Adicks
My Children:
No kids but we have 2 dogs & a cat.
My Job:
Veterinarian.
My Bio:
I went to FSU after NHS, got a degree
in Biology in '94 & got married. Then I went to the UF College
of Vet Med, graduated in May '98, and moved 3000 miles to
the Great Northwest.
I am an associate in a mixed practice
(dogs, cats, cows, sheep, goats, etc.) in a small Washington
town. I am a general practitioner, and my husband & I are
thinking about buying the practice I work in when my boss
retires in a year or 2 (scary- small business ownership!!)
No kids but we have 2 dogs & a cat.
We live on an old dairy farm and have a spectacular view of
Mt. Rainier & the Cascade Mountains.
Finest thing that has happened: Decisions,
decisions...So much has happened over the last 10 years,
and
we've really been blessed - almost all of it has been good.
College, marriage, finishing vet school and (FINALLY!)
reaching
my goal I've had for 20 years - becoming a real practicing
veterinarian. Sorry, I just can't pick the finest.
Worst thing that has happened: Veterinary
National Board Exams. 2 days, 8 straight hours of grueling
tests each day (not to mention the months of panicked studying
beforehand.) I never thought a test could make you feel like
a train ran over you. Anyway, I passed...hope I NEVER have
to do that again!
Words of Wisdom: I was just looking
through my yearbook, I think my favorite piece of advice
came
from Tony Muniz - "when people
tell you you will not amount to anything: Piss On Them" Thanks,
Tony.
PS: Take your pet to a Gator Vet.
